Grant Handling is an operating division of GHL Liftrucks Limited and was formed in 1978 with its head office located in Cranleigh in Surrey.
Initially agents for the Bonser Forklift Truck range, Grant Handling became involved with the then new concept of planned preventative maintenance of mechanical handling equipment. From this point on the business entered into a planned program of geographical expansion, acquiring stand alone operations in key locations throughout the UK as well as opening green field sites in Wales and Kent. Grant Handling continued to expand and in 1988 the company acquired Maxilift Fork Truck Services in Hampshire and Panther Forktrucks in Bristol. In later years further growth was achieved by the addition of depots in the West Midlands and Tyne & Wear. All of these acquisitions were subsequently renamed as Grant Handling.
Since 1988, the company achieved its goal of product independence by acquiring the import rights to the Puma range of fork lift trucks and in later years the product portfolio was improved still further with the addition of import rights for the Samag range of warehousing equipment and the Heli range of counterbalance forktrucks. Since this time increased market share has been enjoyed through sales via our own depots and an extensive dealer network.
Evidence of Grant Handling's flexibility towards its customers needs in relation to service support is demonstrated by the company's activities no longer being limited to materials handling equipment. Continued investment in training has seen the company become increasingly more involved with the service and repair of a diverse range of machinery including construction equipment, mobile generators, cranes and other types of plant. Our Service team includes fully trained and certified technicians who are competent to carry out load proof testing and certification of mechanical equipment and also wire rope testing, as well as a number qualified to work on equipment used in hazardous environments.
In its present form the company has over 200 employees and 8 regional workshop facilities each of which houses a forktruck hire fleet consisting of many hundreds of fork lift trucks as well as new and used forktrucks and warehousing equipment available for contract hire and sale. Each depot is capable of carrying out full refurbishment of forklift trucks as well as spraying and machining.
